Privacy Policy
1. Information we collect
- Identity and contact details — your name, company or trading name, job title, email address, postal address, and telephone number;
- Transaction information — orders, quotes, invoices, delivery details, and payment-related information (we do not store full card numbers; card payments are handled by our payment providers);
- Account information — login credentials and preferences where you hold an account with us;
- Website and device information — your IP address, browser type, device identifiers, and activity on our website, collected through cookies and similar technologies; and
- Communications — records of your enquiries, correspondence, and feedback.
2. How and why we collect it
We collect personal information for lawful purposes connected with our business, principally to supply goods and services you request. In line with the Information Privacy Principles, we collect personal information directly from you where practicable — for example when you place an order, request a quote, create an account, or contact us — and we collect it by lawful and fair means. We will take reasonable steps to make you aware of why we are collecting it, who will receive it, and your rights of access and correction.
We use and disclose personal information for the purpose for which it was collected, for a directly related purpose you would reasonably expect, or where you have authorised it or it is otherwise permitted under the Privacy Act 2020. These purposes include supplying goods and services, managing your account, communicating with you, assessing and managing credit, improving our products and services, sending marketing where permitted, and meeting our legal obligations.
3. Disclosure to third parties
We may disclose your personal information to third parties who help us operate our business, including freight and delivery providers, payment processors, IT, website, analytics, and email-platform providers, credit reporting agencies, professional advisers, and related entities within our group. We may also disclose personal information where required or authorised by law.
4. Disclosures outside New Zealand
Some of the parties to whom we disclose personal information, or who store or access it on our behalf, may be located outside New Zealand. Before disclosing personal information overseas, we take reasonable steps, in accordance with Information Privacy Principle 12, to ensure the information will be subject to comparable safeguards to those under the Privacy Act 2020.
5. Storage and Security
We take reasonable steps to protect your personal information against loss, unauthorised access, use, modification, or disclosure. These steps include secure communication protocols (such as HTTPS), access controls, and system monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If you hold an account with us, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials confidential. We will comply with our obligations under the Privacy Act 2020 notifiable privacy breach scheme, including notifying the Privacy Commissioner and affected individuals of any privacy breach that has caused, or is likely to cause, serious harm.
6. Retention
We keep personal information only for as long as it is required for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law. When it is no longer required, we take reasonable steps to securely destroy or de-identify it.
7. Accessing and correcting your information
Under Information Privacy Principles 6 and 7, you have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you and to request its correction. To make a request, contact us using the details below. We may need to verify your identity before responding, and in limited circumstances permitted by the Privacy Act 2020 we may decline a request, in which case we will give you our reasons.
8. Cookies and Analytics
Our website uses cookies and similar technologies to enable functionality, remember your preferences, analyse traffic, and improve your experience. You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings, although some features may not function properly as a result. We use Google Analytics to measure website use; Google operates under its own privacy policy available at google.com, and you can opt out using Google’s opt-out browser add-on.
9. Complaints
If you believe we have breached the Information Privacy Principles or mishandled your personal information, please contact us using the details below. We will acknowledge and aim to respond within a reasonable period.
